Samsung introduced photo and video processing tools on the Galaxy S26 FE in an announcement dated October 7, 2026. My FanCam automatically reframes existing video around a selected subject, while Photo Assist supports photo editing using natural language. For people creating content on a phone, the notable changes are in post-production, not just the camera.
According to Samsung’s introduction to the Galaxy S26 FE’s features, the device comes with One UI 9 and is already available in Vietnam. The descriptions of photo and video capabilities below come from the company, not from independent testing.
My FanCam processes video after recording
My FanCam lets users select a subject in a recorded video, then automatically tracks and adjusts the framing to focus on that subject. Samsung suggests use cases such as watching performances or sporting events again.
The distinction is that the tool works with existing footage. Users do not have to keep the person in the right position in every frame while recording, but they still need to capture the subject in the original video. Automatic reframing does not mean recovering a moment the camera never recorded.
This is also a different task from selecting highlights, generating subtitles or combining multiple scenes into a clip. The article on AI templates for turning long videos into short clips explains that broader set of post-production tasks.
Stabilization and lighting still belong to the recording stage
For recording, Samsung introduces Super Steady with Horizontal Lock to keep video stable and level while moving. The company describes Nightography as supporting photography and video recording in low light. The phone has a 50MP wide-angle camera, 3x optical zoom and a 12MP front camera.
These features address a different issue from My FanCam: the quality of the source footage rather than composition after recording. Reframed footage still depends on the sharpness, lighting and motion captured. Automating post-production therefore does not fully replace control over the shot.
For those who need to assess brightness and color systematically, the explainer on false color, histograms and RGB Parade provides a foundation for understanding these factors, though it is not a guide specifically for the Galaxy S26 FE.
Photo Assist can change an image’s content
According to Samsung, Photo Assist accepts natural-language requests to adjust lighting, add new elements or restore missing details. The company also describes the ability to remove distracting details and adjust composition.
This is an important distinction for content publishers: reframing primarily changes presentation, while adding or removing objects can change what a photo depicts. For photos used as documentation, keep the originals and clearly distinguish edited versions from images that record the scene.
Limitations that remain unclear
The announcement does not fully specify the conditions for using each feature, such as connectivity requirements, video format limits or support for all languages. It is therefore not yet possible to conclude that these tools always handle crowded scenes, obscured subjects or low-light footage well. Their practical value still depends on input quality and the results of testing on the device.
